Registration is now open for tryouts for the Select program. Select teams will be running in the U11 to U18 age groups. The tryout fee is $40.
Registration is available through the same link that was used when registering for house league.
When going through the registration process you will skip the first step, then the “Ancaster Avalanche Select Tryout Fee” will appear on the next step.
The head coaches for this coming season will be:
U18: Rod Monkman
U16: Mo O’Brien
U15: Todd Shedden
U13: Brian Viveiros
U11: Jed Burrows
For those not familiar with the Select program it’s an opportunity for players in house league to play at a more competitive level without the bigger commitment of a rep program.
Here are some quick details:

There is one Select team per age group (U11, U13, U15, U16, U18)

The team will have one or two hours of ice time per week that is used for practices or exhibition games

Select teams can only play a maximum of 3 exhibition games per month

Select teams can play up to three tournaments per year

The Select program is an addition to house league, not a replacement, so players who make the Select team continue to play with their house league team

Select team schedules will not conflict with house league schedules

There is an additional fee for those who make the team, typically in the range of $500 to $600 per player.
Players who register for the tryouts will be expected to attend both sessions for their age group. The sessions will be scheduled during the week of Oct 11 - 16.
Please note that the U16 team will only be offered if there is enough interest so be sure to register.
