Tri-County Playoffs Begin in Stoney Creek
The Ancaster Avalanche Atom AE team began it’s Tri-County Playoff run on Friday night in Stoney Creek.

Looking to learn from the experience gained during a disappointing OMHA play down, the Avalanche started strong.

The focus for the Tri-County run is to get back to basics and to execute the fundamentals.  The challenge has been laid to the team to find somebody able to step up their game for the playoff run.  Also execution on special teams is going to be a key during these playoffs.

A strong first shift resulted in several scoring chances before Marcus made the score 1-0.  AP Brent showed great energy and a strong shot in helping set the tone.

The Ancaster team continues to come hard all period but a much improved Stoney Creek goaltender gave them few rebounds and took control of the play.

Early in period 2 mark crashed the net hard on the power play, resulting in a 2-0 score.  The trend of Ancaster controlling the play continued all second period but only the one goal was to show.

Joey Sf made it 3-0 on the power play at the 13 minute mark of the third.  The goal gave Ancaster enough breathing room that hey could control the play for the balance of time.   Zack did what was needed in earning his first playoff shutout.

Ancaster specialty teams had some success, with 2 power play goals and not allowing Stoney Creek to score on the power play.

The defensive core had a strong game with Connor D earnign the hard hat for a solid stay at home effort.

The Avalanche travel to Milton next weekend in search of a 2-0 start.

The remaining surplus ($ 222,429.00 – roughly one half the total surplus) was relegated to a later creation in 1961 of the Hamilton Tiger-Cat Athletic Trust Fund. The Athletic Trust exists to serve a broad spectrum of amateur sports, other than football. Both Funds are administered independently, and both trusts are administered by separate board of trustees and exist independent of the football club. Since 1961, the capital sum of the Athletic Trust has grown seven-fold while serving 35-50 grant requests annually.
