Avalanche Earn Trip to Tri-County Finals
The Atom AE Avalanche hosted the Milton Winter Hawks in a Saturday matinee with a trip to the Tri-County finals on the line.  A win or a tie would put Ancaster over the top.

A supportive crowd showed their appreciation early with a nice welcome cheer for the Avalanche.  The key following that would be for the Ancaster team to maintain their composure and focus and not become over exited.

Once the puck dropped it was apparent that Ancaster meant business.  They played a technically solid game early, controlling the play.  The hard work paid off at 5:47 with Andrew scoring the first goal.

Ancaster kept coming hard and got a break at 4:40 of the second when Andrew put the puck towards the net and it took an Ancaster bounce into the net.  The bounce was probably the first Ancaster bounce of the playoffs.

The third period saw Ancaster continue the hard work and the boys did a good job of keeping the puck deep in the Milton end.  Milton took advantage of an extra attacker and got a bounce on a puck towards the net with 2:37 left.

The Avalanche played focused defense late and were able to hold off the Winter Hawks and leave with a 2-1 victory and a trip to the finals, with a 5-1 Qualifier Round record.

The series will start in Erin, game date to be announced soon.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cat Athletic Trust (operating as the Hamilton Athletic Trust) is one of the two Trust established in perpetuity when the Hamilton Tiger-Cat Football Club passed into private. In the initial Agreement, money and securities were used to set-up the Hamilton Tiger-Cat Football Trust Fund that was devoted specifically to supporting amateur football interests in the community. The remaining surplus ($ 222,429.00 – roughly one half the total surplus) was relegated to a later creation in 1961 of the Hamilton Tiger-Cat Athletic Trust Fund. The Athletic Trust exists to serve a broad spectrum of amateur sports, other than football. Both Funds are administered independently, and both trusts are administered by separate board of trustees and exist independent of the football club. Since 1961, the capital sum of the Athletic Trust has grown seven-fold while serving 35-50 grant requests annually.
