Avalanche Extend Unbeaten Streak To 3 Games
On Monday November 11, the Avalanche looked
to extend their winning streak hosting the improved Stoney Creek Warriors at
Morgan Firestone Arena. Dylan H. opened the scoring for the Avs with his third
goal in the last two games just 4 minutes into the game. The score remained 1-0
in favour of the Avalanche until early in the second period when Greg L. went
top shelf with a backhand from in close to increase the lead to 2-0.
With 4 minutes left in the second period the Warriors scored on a powerplay to narrow the gap. After two periods of a very spirited and physical game, the Avs were clinging to a 2-1 advantage heading to the third period. Just 4 minutes into the third period Stoney Creek tied the score off an Avalanche turnover just inside their own blueline. This goal seemed to change the momentum in the game as the Warriors continued to storm the Avalanche net and were rewarded with the go ahead goal with only 4 minutes remaining in the game. Then with the goalie out and 6 attackers pressing for the tying goal, Connor J. found a loose puck just in front of the Stoney Creek goalie and roofed the tying goal with only 11.9 seconds remaining. Excellent effort again tonight to salvage 1 point and extend the team's unbeaten streak to three games.
