Dick Catterall Tournament
Tournament

Pelham : The boys worked hard, but our skating was not as quick as we normally are.  We found ourselves 2 point down after the second period. The tournament format was a period by period points system, you received a point if you win the period or half a point if you tied and 2 points if you win. We had half a point if we tied Pelham in the 3rd , but we knew to have a chance to move on, we needed to win the period to get a full point.

We gave it a fight,  we pulled the goalie in the 3rd with less than 4 minutes to play. There was some controversy with the Refs, which we had a face off moved out of their zone after Pelham received a penalty and then Pelham received another pentalty again which should have been a 6 on 3 for us, but the Refs gave us the penalty instead, unfortunately for us. Pelham ended up scoring to win the third, we lost 5-2.

For some solace, the tournament organizer confirmed that the Refs were new Refs and the Refs admitted to making the mistakes. Oh well, we had a chance for the full point.

Rosedale : The boys got up early the next day and came out blazing. Within the first 10 sec we scored and the boys never looked back, the play was in Rosedale’s end for most of the game. From our Forwards to Defense and goaltending was solid. We won 4-0 One of the Pelham coaches was watching the game and commented, that they could not believe how fast our boys really are.

Oakville :  We knew that Oakville would be strong, we had our chances but with 14 secs left in the 1st, they score and won the period, we tied the 2nd and lost the third. The boys work hard on Offense and Defense, back checking and created opportunities to score. Our goaltending was solid again, giving us a chance to win. We lost 0-2.

Pelham lost to Rosedale 2-0 in their third game.
Pelham finished with 6 points and Ancaster finished with 5 Point. If we had won the third period with Pelham, we would have moved on to the playoffs.
Pelham would have had 5 Points and we would have 6 points.
If we had split the 3rd period with Pelham, we would both be tied at 5.5 points and Pelham would have won with the head to head tie breaker.

Port Perry Won the tournament.

I hope that everyone enjoyed the tournament.
