Kyle's Game Winner Secures #4 Seed.
The Ancaster Avalanche hosted the Centre-Wellington Fusion on Saturday afternoon with the #3 seed in the OMHA Playdowns on the line.

The Av’s entered the game having made some line-up tweaks.  Nathan and Eric were given the opportunity to play forward.  The 2 had a strong first shift with Kyle and showed great energy, resulting in a couple of scoring chances.  The early energy continued but the offence was difficult to find.  Neither team could score and the first period ended 0-0.

Joe fired a nice shot home and showed good chemistry with Marcus for a 1-0 Ancaster lead.  The lead was short lived when CW tied it up with just over 2 minutes left in period 2.  CW made it 2-1 early in period 3 and had the Ancaster bench worried as it appeared that they had found another gear or at least one player with a higher gear.

Ancaster, knowing what was a t stake did not give up, Andrew made a brilliant pass to Mark for the tying goal.   The 2 combined shortly after and Kyle collected the garbage for a 3-2 lead that would hold up.

The third period was a good period by Ancaster who showed the ability to score when needed but were also able to shut down the CW offence with an extra attacker.  The win secures the #4 seed for the OMHA playdowns and means a win Monday against Burlington will result in an over all .500 record.

The Avalanche are 18-19-10 including tournaments and exhibition games.   A .500 finish would be a superb accomplishment heading into a difficult playoff run!

The Hamilton Tiger-Cat Athletic Trust (operating as the Hamilton Athletic Trust) is one of the two Trust established in perpetuity when the Hamilton Tiger-Cat Football Club passed into private. In the initial Agreement, money and securities were used to set-up the Hamilton Tiger-Cat Football Trust Fund that was devoted specifically to supporting amateur football interests in the community. The remaining surplus ($ 222,429.00 – roughly one half the total surplus) was relegated to a later creation in 1961 of the Hamilton Tiger-Cat Athletic Trust Fund. The Athletic Trust exists to serve a broad spectrum of amateur sports, other than football. Both Funds are administered independently, and both trusts are administered by separate board of trustees and exist independent of the football club. Since 1961, the capital sum of the Athletic Trust has grown seven-fold while serving 35-50 grant requests annually.
