Ancaster Pulls Out First Playoff Win
The Stoney Creek Warriors came to Ancaster loaded with playoff intensity.  The Avalanche team however didn’t seem to have the same urgency on Monday night.  Playing without Nate and Joey and having a few other players coming off illness, the task would be a difficult one.

Stoney Creek came to play and a first period  powerplay goal put a silence over the crowd at Morgan Firestone Arena.  Before Ancaster could regroup, Stoney Creek scored a second goal and had the 2-0 lead.

Andrew brought Ancaster some life with 2 goals in just over a minute to tie the game.  Despite the tie score, Ancaster had it’s work cut out for them to hold off this hungry Warrior team.

Ancaster took the lead when Jacob S went end-to-end Bobby Orr style and made the rush count for a 3-2 lead.  The goal was highlight reel material.

Andrew looked for the insurance and a hat trick on a penalty shot but was unable to pull the trigger and the score remained 3-2.

Stoney Creek made things tense tying the contest late.  Shortly after the tie the hockey Gods smiled on Ancaster as a Stoney Creek penalty shot rang off the post to keep the game tied.

Showing that practice pays off, Ancaster took advantage of a late powerplay.  Caelen and Mark were perfect in breaking the puck out and creating a scoring chance that Marcus took advantage of for the eventual game winner in an exciting 4-3 Ancaster victory.

In order to get to where they want, the Ancaster team must step up and play consistent, intense playoff hockey the rest of the way.

The next challenge is a big one, Sunday in Oakville.

Hard Hat – Mark.

The remaining surplus ($ 222,429.00 – roughly one half the total surplus) was relegated to a later creation in 1961 of the Hamilton Tiger-Cat Athletic Trust Fund. The Athletic Trust exists to serve a broad spectrum of amateur sports, other than football. Both Funds are administered independently, and both trusts are administered by separate board of trustees and exist independent of the football club. Since 1961, the capital sum of the Athletic Trust has grown seven-fold while serving 35-50 grant requests annually.
