Despite Strong Effort, Avalanche Come Up Short
Your Ancaster Avalanche traveled to Oakville on Sunday afternoon to face a red-hot Rangers team. So far in The OMH A play downs the Rangers had out scored their opponents by the total score of 23 to 0 in 2 games.

The Avalanche knew they had their work cut out for them if they were to earn a W.
The Avalanche played disciplined hockey early and kept the Rangers at bay
through the first period.  Strong forechecking, solid defensive play and
strong goaltending kept the score 0-0.
Oakville took advantage of a second period goalmouth scramble to make the score 1-0.
The goal didn't stop the Ancaster effort.  The boys continued to play hard disciplined
hockey throughout the rest of the second period.
A late Oakville goal on a line mis match gave Oakville the insurance that was too much
for Ancaster to overcome.
Ancaster did have chances late.   With Zack on the bench, Ancaster had several opportunities
but couldn't put the puck behind the Oakville goaltender.
With the shutout win, Oakville remains perfect in the playoffs.
Despite the loss, hopes are the game will be a great playoff building block for
Ancaster moving forward
Ancaster faces 2 huge challenges next weekend against Stony Creek and Orangeville.
Solid efforts are required in both games if the Avalanche has any hopes of advancing to the
OMHA Quarter Finals

The remaining surplus ($ 222,429.00 – roughly one half the total surplus) was relegated to a later creation in 1961 of the Hamilton Tiger-Cat Athletic Trust Fund. The Athletic Trust exists to serve a broad spectrum of amateur sports, other than football. Both Funds are administered independently, and both trusts are administered by separate board of trustees and exist independent of the football club. Since 1961, the capital sum of the Athletic Trust has grown seven-fold while serving 35-50 grant requests annually.
