This past month, the Ancaster community lost a very special member. Anya Martinez fought a long and courageous battle against Leukemia, supported by her family and the entire community.
The family has been involved with Ancaster Minor Hockey through Anya’s brother Cristiano and father Michael, coming to the rink for community, fun, and challenge. This year, Ancaster Minor Hockey will be holding a fundraising drive to support the families whom are fighting childhood cancers and the oncology unit at McMaster Children’s Hospital in Anya’s memory.
We will be handing out helmet stickers with a Gold Ribbon as a symbol of our support. Rather than selling these stickers, we will be distributing them to all of our teams (House League and Rep) asking for a collection towards a community donation. For teams or folks outside of the Ancaster Minor Hockey system, please see contact information below on how you can also participate.
Please support this very worthwhile cause. For further information on Anya’s story and her courageous battle please visit www.facebook.com/savinglittleanya.
