*** The AMHL Board of Directors in consultation with the successful coach has the right to review the re-classification of a team. (ie. AA to A, AE1 - AE2).

All applicants must submit the following information by January 31, 2013:

b) Attach additional information reflecting your coaching experiences or any other information which is not detailed in the application (i.e. playing experience, other interests, bench management, discipline tc.). This could include your coaching philosophy or any compelling facts, figures or essays as to why you are the right coach for the job. This can range from a single sentence to an eloquent dissertation - it is your chance to tell us what you bring to the position.

c) Brief outline of yearly plan for the age group that you’re applying for.

A Selection Committee, consisting of the Director of Rep Hockey, Director of Coach & Player development and at least one non-executive member, will review the applications and conduct interviews with the candidates.

When rating candidates, the selection committee will consider a number of factors - previous coaching experience, coaching certifications, performance in the interview, whether the candidate is a non-parent, results of the Parent Survey for current coaches, length of time with existing team, suitability of parent/child placement, references and skill level rating of the coach’s child relative to other players if the child is trying out for the team.

The Selection Committee will then make a recommendation of the best candidates for each team. These recommendations will be discussed and ratified at the Board level. Applicants that the committee selects as the primary choice for a given team will be contacted by the committee after executive board approval and offered that team for the upcoming season. Upon the applicant’s acceptance of the team, non successful applicants will be contacted immediately to notify them of the committees’ decision.

Please feel free to contact Kevin Williamson or Mark Davies to discuss the coaching role if you want to get a better understanding of the process and expectations of a head coach.
