Submitted By AMHL on Friday, May 10, 2013
Congratulations to the Ancaster Major Peewee AE Team for bringing home the Cleveland Cup this past weekend (Sept 14/15).
After falling 2 to 1 in the first game, to the Monroe County Eagles, the Avalanche rebounded and won four straight games against tough competition including the Burlington Eagles.
The championship game versus the Hamburg Hawks began in a stalemate with Hamburg net minder making outstanding saves. The Avalanche finally broke through and went up 2-0. Early in the second period however, Hamburg caught the Avalanche flat footed and tied the game 2-2.
The team showed great character and rallied scoring 2 straight goals and pulled out an impressive 4-2 Championship Victory. This tournament win gives this group of young men a taste of victory and positive momentum to start the regular season!
