Major Bantam AA's Win Gold in Kingston
Submitted By AMHL on Sunday, November 9, 2014
The Major Bantam AA Avalanche won the Kingston Canadians Tournament (Nov 7-9) by defeating the Newmarket Redmen 3-2 in the championship game.

The Avalanche started the tournament slowly and finished with a 1-2-1 record after the round robin to grab the 4th and final playoff spot. They faced the Kingston Canadians in the semis, the top team after the round-robin games with a 4-0 record, 23 goals for and only 3 against. In their round robin match-up, the Canadians soundly beat the Avalanche 6-0.

In the semi’s, the Avalanche came to play and skated hard both ways to hold the powerful Canadians to a 1-1 draw after regulation. The 5 minute overtime solved nothing but the Avalanche snipers found the back of the net twice in the shootout to win the game and advance to the championship. In the finals against Newmarket, the Avalanche overcame a 2-1 deficit in the third period to score twice and capture the gold medal.

Game 1: Avalanche 1, Seaway Valley Rapids (Ottawa) 1
Game 2: Humber  Valley Sharks 4, Avalanche 1
Game 3: Kingston Canadians 6, Avalanche 0
Game 4: Avalanche 3, Belleville Bulls 1
Game 5: Semi-finals: Avalanche 2, Kingston Canadians 1 (shoot-out)
Game 6: Finals: Avalanche 3, Newmarket Redmen 2

The coaches are extremely proud of the boys’ focus, determination, effort and great team play throughout the tournament.
