What Happens in September?
For the coming 2024-25 season we will first take the ice on Sept 14, 15 weekend. This will kick-start three weekends of activities for ages U7 and older.
There are different sessions happening each weekend and different age groups involved so please see below for full details that are applicable to you.
Sept 14, 15 — Pre-skates (U7 to U15)
The U7 to U15 age groups are the first to take the ice.
U7 to U13 Players will attend a one hour session on both Saturday and Sunday.
U15 Players will have a one hour session on Sunday only.
Players are not being evaluated at this time, it's just a great opportunity to get players into hockey mode before we kick-off the evaluation sessions the following weekend.

Sept 21 to 23 — House League Evaluations (U9 to U18)
Our second weekend of sessions is when we kick-off the evaluation process. This is when players will take the ice and be evaluated on their ability. The evaluations are used by the AMHL team to make a best effort to create house league teams that are balanced in skill. Age groups U9 through U18 run on the first weekend of evaluations.

Sept 22 — Pre-season Scrimmages (U21)
The new U21 league doesn't kick-off until October, but players will have the opportunity to take the ice for a pre-season scrimmage to shake the rust off, and meet everyone.

Sept 28, 29 — House League Evaluations (U7, U8)
The third weekend of sessions is when the younger age groups are evaluated. The evaluations are used by the AMHL team to make a best effort to create house league teams that are balanced in skill. Age groups U7, U8 run on the second weekend of evaluations.

Sept 28, 29 — Select Tryouts (U11 to U18)
Following the weekend of house league evaluations for these age groups, on Sept 28, 29 we will run the Select team tryouts.

Oct 1 to 3 — Assignment of Teams
Once the house league evaluations and the Select tryouts are complete, the AMHL directors will create the teams. You should expect to hear from your coach directly, no later than Thurs Oct 3.
Your coach will let you know the name of your team so you can find your team schedule on our website.
Your coach will also provide you with your team jersey and socks on the first day of programming.
Oct 5, 6 — Start of Season
Once the teams are made we jump straight into regular programming.
The CHIPs program also kicks-off this weekend.
