What are the Opening Skates
We kick-off our programming on the weekend of Sept 13, 14 with two days of sessions for the U7 to U18 age groups.
U7 to U11 players will be on the ice for one hour on both Saturday and Sunday (attend both days).
U13 and U15 players will have a one hour session on Saturday only.
U18 players will have a one hour scrimmage on Sunday only.
These sessions are included as part of our regular programming. It's important to attend the opening weekend in order to get into hockey mode, before we begin the evaluations.
What you need to know
- All sessions will be run by the coaching staff from Mak's Hockey Academy.
- For U7 to U15, each session will look like a regular practice, with a combination of drills, small area games, and scrimmages.
- For U18, we will run scrimmages.
- Players are expected to be in full equipment.
- If you need a jersey and/or socks, we will have some available at the check-in desk.
- Players will be evenly split into different time slots based on their last name. Please make every effort to attend your assigned time slot. If you have a conflict, you may attend the other time slot.
- When you arrive at the rink, there will be a check-in desk run by AMHL volunteers should you have any questions.

- Any changes to the schedule will be communicated with as much notice as possible.
