The Ancaster Minor Hockey League (AMHL) is looking for volunteers to join our Board for the 2026-27 season. Our board members play an important role in helping create a positive, organized, and
fun hockey experience for players and families in our community.
Serving on the board is a great way to give back to the league, support youth sports, and help shape
the future of hockey in Ancaster.
Below is an overview of the open positions and their key responsibilities.

guide the league, improve programs, and ensure that our players have a fun and fair experience.

Time Commitment
Most board roles require approximately 3-6 hours per month, including:
- Monthly board meetings
- Occasional planning or coordination tasks
- Some additional time during the start and end of the season
Many responsibilities are shared across board members, and volunteers receive support from the full board.
Open Board Positions
Vice President
Key Responsibilities
- Assume the duties of the President in the absence of the President for any reason
- Monitor adherence to all policies
- Serve as the primary contact with the Ontario Minor Hockey Association and manage all correspondence
- Assist league directors requiring support in the completion of their functions
- Serve as a member of the ice allocation committee
Treasurer
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to and implementation of financial policies in the financial administration of the league
- Ensure the submission of the books of account to the auditor of the league at the end of the financial year
- Present the auditor’s report at the Annual General Meeting
- Evaluate, review, and recommend financial policy to the Executive Committee and the Board
- Chair the budget committee
- Pay all verified invoices
Director of Junior House League
Key Responsibilities
- Be responsible to the executive for the operations of the U9, U11, and U13 divisions of house league
- Work with the ice scheduler to coordinate schedules and practices within the junior house league divisions
- Serve as a member of the disciplinary committee
Director of Coach and Player Development
Key Responsibilities
- Arrange coaching clinics, hockey schools, trainer clinics, and other programs for player and coach improvement
- Make coach selection recommendations to the Board
- Develop, manage, and implement a process for select tryouts
- Coordinate and maintain player evaluations
- Work with house league directors to ensure the continuous development of players and coaches
Director of Equipment
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain pricing and, subject to board approval, purchase all necessary equipment and jerseys for league operations
- Assist coaches and managers in the distribution of equipment to players
- Arrange the pick up, storage, and insurance of all equipment purchased by the league
- Keep records of all equipment assigned to coaches and players
Other Open Positions
Head Trainer
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold and promote the goals and purposes of the Hockey Safety Program and the policies and procedures of Hockey Canada, the Ontario Hockey Federation, the Hockey Development Centre of Ontario, and the Ontario Minor Hockey Association
- Provide the Board with strategies to eliminate, minimize, or mitigate risks that may be faced by the league and its members
- Ensure the proper distribution and disposition of reporting forms relating to on-ice and off-ice incidents resulting in injury to a player, volunteer, team official, on-ice official, or other participants
New Positions
Select Convenor
Key Responsibilities
- This is a new role to be officially added to the organization at the AGM
- The key responsibilities will be provided soon

If you are interested in any of the available roles, please submit your nomination form, including the names of two nominators, by May 15, 2026.
Nomination Form
As per section 9.1 of the AMHL ByLaws:
"A Nomination Form must be completed by all nominees and two (2) nominators who
are Members of the Ancaster Minor Hockey League. Such completed form must be
delivered to the Secretary a minimum of three (3) weeks prior to the election."
