Av's Clinch a Shot at the Title
When the final buzzer sounded on Monday night in the Stoney Creek Arena it was almost impossible to hear it buzz over the cheer of the crowd and the exuberant players celebrating on the ice.

It looked like a yard sale of equipment as the Minor Peewee AE Avalanche celebrated their come from behind victory to clinch a spot in the Tri-County Championship.
After being eliminated from the OMHA playoffs in a quarter final series against the Oakville Rangers, the Avalanche turned their sights on a Tri-County Championship.  The Avalanche plans hit a stumbling block in their second game of the round robin play downs, losing a one goal game to the Milton Winterhawks.   That however,  did not stop a determined Avalanche squad that have faced on and off ice adversity all season long.
The Av's strung together a 4 win performance that culminated with back to back victories against the top seated Stoney Creek Warriors on Sunday and Monday.
Cole Zambon lead the attack in the deciding game scoring a hat-trick, while Marc-Anthony Armenia, Hunter Bryant and Nic Sousa also scored to give the Avalanche a hard fought 6-4 victory.  Logan Johnston earned his pay between the pipes in the dying moments of the game, facing multiple close range shots, turning away the Warriors with each chance.  On the blue line,  battle after battle were won by the Avalanche Defenceman!  Michael Chabot, Paul Kim, Kai Nunn, Justin White and Hunter Bryant played a solid game of defensive shut down.  Forcing the play at the blue line, keeping the puck in the offensive zone and making great outlet passes to their streaking forward teammates, all resulted in shutting down the hi-powered Stoney Creek attack.
The Avalanche now advance to the Tri-County Championship Series and will await a contender from the other conference.

Congratulations to such a hard working group of boys, enjoy your rest this week....before the battle begins again!
