Avalanche Unstoppable in Stoney Creek
Mon Nov 7- On Monday evening the Avalanche faced their cross town rival the Stoney Creek Warriors looking to snap their two game losing streak. The Avalanche controlled the play from the opening faceoff and had numerous great chances to score but were unable to capitalize. Despite some fine saves by Ryan O., Stoney Creek would open the scoring late in the first period on a breakaway. The Avalanche continued to dominate the Warriors at both ends of the ice and significantly outshot the Warriors who were held without a shot on goal in the second period but the Avalanche still trailed 1-0 heading to the third period.

Despite not being rewarded for their hard work and good passing through the first 2 periods, the team continued to outplay the Warriors. A determined forecheck finally paid off as Connor K. banged in a loose puck in the Stoney Creek crease to tie the score at 1-1, 4 minutes into the third period. Just moments later a very nice play off the sideboards by Connor J. left Sandro C. with a wide open net and he scored to give the Avalanche their first lead of the game. A top shelf rocket by Aidan C. put the Avalanche ahead 3-1 just past the midway point of the third period. With 2 minutes remaining in the game Devlon C. made a strong play to keep the puck in the Warriors end as the puck went to Sandro C. who put the game out of reach with his second of the night finishing off the play with a wraparound goal.

Final Score Ancaster 4 – Stoney Creek 1

Game MVP – Devlon C.
