Avalanche 'Hammer” Fusion
On Saturday afternoon the Avalanche welcomed
the Centre Wellington Fusion to Morgan Firestone Arena. Coming off a strong
victory in Stoney Creek the Avalanche hoped to continue their winning ways.
Some excellent saves early in the game by Malcolm B. kept the game scoreless.
A goal midway through the period put the Fusion ahead 1-0 after 1 period. Another goal early in the second by the Fusion seemed to have the Avalanche on the ropes. But the team started their comeback when Dylan H. crashed the net and banged in a rebound to get the Avs on the board trailing only 2-1. That goal was quickly followed by an almost identical goal this time by Ty C. He was also rewarded for going to the net as the puck found his stick and then the back of the net tying the game at 2. Early in the third period Connor J. ended his scoreless drought converting a Fusion turnover into the go ahead goal on a fine individual effort. Dylan H. then got the insurance marker for the Avalanche as he scored his second of the day, converting a nice feed from Campbell D. A very strong team effort after a bit of a slow start helped to improve the Avalanche's overall record to 6 wins and 8 losses on the season.
